Kyle Stowers set the tone early, launching a first-pitch home run off Seattle starter George Kirby in the second inning for his 12th long ball of the season. The Marlins added their second run in the third when Xavier Edwards delivered an RBI triple that scored Otto Lopez from first base, giving Miami all the offense they would need.
Speaking of Lopez, the major league batting leader continued his historic campaign with another multi-hit performance, going 2 for 4 to raise his average to an impressive .345. The 26-year-old became the first player since Jose Altuve in 2014 to record 40 multi-hit games before the All-Star break. His fifth-inning double also tied Luis Arraez’s 2023 franchise record for most hits before the midsummer classic at 126.
On the mound, Tyler Phillips delivered five stellar innings, surrendering just four hits while throwing an efficient 71 pitches to earn the victory and improve to 2-3. The bullpen was equally dominant, with Cade Gibson contributing two perfect frames before Michael Petersen and Pete Fairbanks closed things out.
