At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney unveiled part of its upcoming slate of films. Announcements included previews, release dates, and details regarding productions from some of its most famous franchises, with a schedule beginning in 2027 and extending—for now—through 2029.
The first release announced for this period is Ice Age: Boiling Point, hitting theaters on February 5, 2027. This new adventure reunites Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, and Buck in a story where dinosaurs and volcanic landscapes play a central role. Scrat and Baby Scrat will also return, while “Jurassic Scrat” joins the lineup as a new addition to the franchise.
A few months later, on May 28, 2027, Star Wars: Starfighter will arrive. Directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling, the film follows a character who must undertake a perilous journey across the galaxy.
Upcoming Disney movies arriving in 2027
The schedule continues on September 3 with a new Simpsons movie. Disney showed attendees a preview of the production, which will once again bring the Springfield family to the big screen.
November will see the release of Frozen 3 on the 24th. Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven return to the story, while early footage hints at the arrival of a new villain whose powers could put Elsa to the test.
The announced lineup continues into 2028. X-Men arrives in theaters on May 5, featuring Kit Connor as Cyclops. A month later, on June 16, Disney will release Incredibles 3, reuniting the Parr family under the direction of Peter Sohn, known for his work on Elemental.
Coco 2 set for 2029 return
One of the projects generating the most interest was Coco 2, the sequel to the Pixar film inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration. The new story will feature Miguel as a teenager and bring back Ernesto de la Cruz, who will once again play a significant role in the plot.

The production will return to the Land of the Dead and is scheduled for release in November 2029, though Disney has not yet specified the exact day.
Additionally, the studio confirmed that Zootopia 3 is currently in development. The film will see the return of familiar characters from the franchise, although no release date has been announced yet.
With these projects, Disney maintains a film slate that combines new installments of established franchises with productions set to continue their run in the coming years.
