Reports indicate that Donald Trump will declare war on Venezuela

Tucker Carlson claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to announce a war with Venezuela, citing information allegedly shared by a member of Congress. The journalist said lawmakers were briefed the previous day about a potential conflict that would be formally announced by the president at 9:00 p.m.

Carlson cautioned that the information had not been independently confirmed and acknowledged the limits of his knowledge. He stated that a member of Congress relayed the claim to him earlier in the day but emphasized that he could not verify whether the announcement would in fact take place. Carlson did not identify the lawmaker and provided no documents or official sources to support the assertion.

As of Wednesday afternoon, neither the White House nor the U.S. Department of State had confirmed that Trump’s address would include an announcement of war or any military action against Venezuela.

No official outline of the speech has been released indicating a major shift in U.S. foreign policy, and administration officials have not publicly addressed Carlson’s claims.

Trump is scheduled to deliver a nationally televised speech from the White House in which he is expected to review his first year in office and outline priorities for the remaining three years of his term, according to White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt. Carlson, a former Fox News host dismissed in 2023, remains an influential voice among conservative audiences and has previously expressed skepticism toward U.S. military interventions abroad.
