Dubai’s tourism sector recorded its third consecutive year of growth in 2025, attracting more than 17 million visitors, according to data released by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). Visitor arrivals increased by 5 percent compared to the previous year, surpassing the previous monthly record set in January 2025, which saw 1.94 million visitors.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) markets accounted for a combined 26 percent share of Dubai’s total visitors in 2025, representing approximately 2.99 million tourists. This regional demand contributed notably to the overall increase in visitor numbers.
Industry figures indicated that tourism directly contributed an estimated $20.9 billion to the United Arab Emirates’ gross domestic product in 2025. The sector maintained a steady upward trend in revenue, with projections suggesting annual growth at a compound rate of over 17 percent between 2021 and 2026.
The city’s infrastructure upgrades, advanced communication networks, and enhanced services supported this ongoing expansion. Dubai’s strategy to expand its aviation and cruise capacities, alongside integration of innovative technology in services, played a significant role in attracting global travelers throughout the year.
Records also showed improvements in hotel occupancy rates and tourist spending across various international markets. Dubai positioned itself as a key global tourism destination by combining strategic geographic advantages and modern amenities. The sector’s continuous progress bolstered Dubai’s standing in international tourism rankings.
Data from early 2026 indicated a positive outlook following the successful collapse of the annual Arabian Travel Market event, which highlighted aviation, cruise, and technological developments anticipated to drive further growth in the regional tourism economy.
The Ministry of Economy and Tourism of the UAE reported that the tourism market volume approached $950 billion by the start of 2026, underlining the substantial economic weight of the industry in the country’s broader economic landscape.
