Built-in safety systems you never notice

One such feature includes the markings and small handles under passenger seats, which house life jackets and flotation devices, stored within easy reach in compliance with federal aviation safety regulations. Airplane tray tables contain engineering details as well: some feature small indentations or grooves that help keep cups and bottles from sliding during turbulence, while locking mechanisms secure the tray in the upright position during takeoff, landing, and turbulence, meeting FAA safety standards.

Emergency slides, stored within door frames, deploy automatically when exit doors open during evacuations and must meet strict deployment timeframes and durability standards.
