After Melinda Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and ex-wife of Microsoft’s founder, described the impact of the recent disclosure of U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) documents related to Jeffrey Epstein as “heartbreaking”, Bill Gates publicly responded to the allegations that arose after the release of alleged emails linked to his name.
The recently released documents include draft messages written by Epstein in 2013, which make serious allegations against the tech entrepreneur, reigniting public scrutiny of the relationship between the two.

Gates claims the emails are fake and denies any wrongdoing
In an interview, Bill Gates categorically denied the allegations, asserting that the emails were never sent and that they were messages Epstein wrote to himself.
“It’s true that I only attended dinners. I never went to the island. I never met any women. The more that comes out, the clearer it will be that, while that contact was a mistake, it had nothing to do with that kind of behavior”, Gates said.
The Microsoft founder acknowledged that he regrets having had contact with Epstein, but reiterated that he never participated in illegal or inappropriate activities.
“No, apparently Jeffrey wrote an email to himself. That email was never sent. It’s fake. I regret every minute I spent with him and I apologize for doing so”, he added.
What the US Department of Justice documents reveal
According to information published by The New York Times, the US Department of Justice confirmed the existence of emails written by Epstein, in which he insinuated alleged extramarital affairs by Gates that had resulted in a sexually transmitted disease (STD). However, official records indicate that the messages were never sent to Gates or third parties, but remained as drafts.
A spokesperson for the businessman described the allegations as “absolutely absurd and completely false”, explaining that the documents only reflect Epstein’s frustration at not having achieved an ongoing relationship with Gates.

Melinda Gates: “It’s a heartbreaking situation”
For her part, Melinda Gates addressed the issue during NPR’s Wild Card with Rachel Martin podcast, where she described the situation as “heartbreaking” and called for collective reflection on Epstein’s abuses.
“No girl should have been put in the situation Epstein put them in,” she said, recalling that when the events occurred, her daughters were similar in age to the minors.
Melinda Gates’ statements underscore the social and personal impact that the Jeffrey Epstein case continues to have, even years after his death, and reignite the debate about responsibility, power, and the protection of minors.
