U.S. President Donald Trump used the occasion of Christmas Eve to once again attack opposition Democrats, branding them “radical left scum,” while simultaneously issuing holiday greetings and highlighting what he described as the achievements of his administration.
From his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, the Republican president combined traditional Christmas activities with pointed political messaging. On December 24, Trump took part in NORAD Santa Tracker calls, an annual event that allows children to follow Santa Claus’s journey around the world, and sent Christmas greetings to U.S. troops stationed abroad, thanking them for their service and commitment.
That conciliatory tone, however, did not extend to his political rivals. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wished a “Merry Christmas to all,” but added a sharp message directed at Democrats, accusing them of doing “everything possible to destroy our Country,” while asserting that their efforts were failing.
In the same statement, Trump defended his record in office and listed what he portrayed as key policy successes. He claimed that the United States no longer suffers from open borders, weak law enforcement, or controversial social policies, and instead is experiencing strong economic performance. According to Trump, the country is benefiting from a record-setting stock market, rising 401(k) retirement accounts, historically low crime rates, and the absence of inflation.
The president also highlighted recent economic data to support his assertions. His comments came a day after the Commerce Department reported that the U.S. economy grew at an annual rate of 4.3 percent in the third quarter, the highest GDP growth recorded in the past two years and significantly above earlier expectations. Trump cited this figure as evidence of economic strength under his leadership.
