The prestigious French fashion house Alaïa has unveiled its latest retail masterpiece in the heart of Miami’s Design District, featuring a striking pink facade that captures the essence of both the brand and the city’s vibrant aesthetic. The new boutique, located at 171 NE 39th St, showcases an innovative design covered in delicate mosaic tiles that create a textured, almost living appearance.
Swedish design firm Halleroed, which has collaborated with Alaïa on five previous projects, crafted the space to honor both the brand’s heritage and Miami’s iconic art deco architecture. The design team worked to translate the feminine elegance of Alaïa’s renowned clothing into architectural form, combining soft curved shapes with sharp geometric lines to create visual tension and sophistication throughout the space.
The multi-level store features dedicated areas for footwear, accessories, and ready-to-wear collections, each thoughtfully designed with abundant mirrors and carefully calibrated lighting. Metallic and leather textures punctuate the predominantly pink palette, while exceptional furniture pieces curated by interior designer Martin Brûlé include works from celebrated designers Philippe Starck, Ron Arad, and Reinhard Müller.
Adding a distinctive Miami touch, renowned botanist Patrick Blanc, a longtime Alaïa collaborator, created custom planters that integrate lush tropical greenery into both the interior and exterior of the space. This botanical element connects the store to Miami’s natural landscape while echoing the famous vertical garden at Alaïa’s Paris flagship. The result is a seamless blend of architecture, furniture, and nature that creates what designers describe as one continuous sculptural composition.
